New Year, New Country Nights!

Many of you know that for two years Zeke and I ran the most successful country night in Boston. We were lucky to be asked to teach line dancing and play all the country hits two nights a week at Loretta's Last Call on Lansdowne Street.  That night still happens- every Sunday and Tuesday night- run by the wonderful Jason Peterson.  As much as we loved it, two nights a week while running our business and working other gigs just got to be too much for us over the course of the two years.

However, two nights a MONTH we totally can handle! When we came across the opportunity to start a brand new country night in Winthrop, we were totally ready to dive back in. While at brunch at JW's in Winthrop one Sunday, Zeke and I overheard the bartender Nick talking about how he wanted to start a country night at the bar.  JW's had just expanded and has a brand new event space for which they wanted to start making some big plans. When Zeke overheard the words "country night" he instantly handed Nick our business card and we all started brainstorming. Before long, it was a done deal.

January 5th was our first new country night and it was a huge success!  So many of our Loretta's family came out to support us, in addition to every country fan in the town of Winthrop! It was a packed house.  So we are doing it again!  Join us every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month (unless there's a private event) for some line dancing and drinks! Free to get in, free parking...that's hard to find so close to Boston.

A Holiday Hoedown First!

Last year's wedding season was a blast, and we were also able to end the year with some really fun holiday events and meetings to plan out our new year.  A December highlight was the Holiday Hoedown we worked for a film production company called Neoscape. We've done our share of country themed parties and we expected this one not to be much different...but we were in for a surprise!

We arrived an hour early for set up, but not because they wanted us to get the music and dancing started right away. We actually needed to have our equipment in place so that it could be used as part of the set for their Holiday FILM! They had been working on a highly produced and hilarious Mean Girls parody starring their staff.  So we took our places, Zeke cued up the music, they set up elaborate lights and a boom microphone, and soon the actors were ready to take their places in their sexy santa suits.  Yup, they recreated the Jingle Bell rock scene from Mean Girls.  It was amazing. As someone who works in television as her day job, being on a set was exciting as always but not all that out of the ordinary.  Zeke, on the other hand, was blown away. I don't think he ever expected something like this to happen at one of our gigs, but I guess when you're hired by a film production company anything can happen! Want to see the video? Check it out here, and look for Zeke's cameo at TC 4:12!
